Let's Start Learning

These I share with you are only my thoughts and opinions, don't memorize my meanings go find your own ....

Kidding ... what I mean to say is on a more serious note... Yes there are Keywords, basic Meanings for each card, that makes it a system... now add your own layer to it...
by looking at each card you discover more about what each card means ...

We will start with Keywords and my thoughts each card ....

and slowly we will work through the deck ...We will begin each page with the Rider Waite Smith Deck ( a great beginner's deck to learn the basic Keywords.. and then build from there) ..
The reason I begin each page with the RWS card is because there are many references and books relating to this deck... This deck is the base for many different Tarot deck creators out there, the artists will take the RWS and then make some changes to make it their own.. so there are many decks we call RWS Clones... These decks are Illustrated minor arcana also...

The Other Systems we say are Tarot de Marseilles ( you will see I have included Imperatrix and other similar decks on these pages ) These minor arcana are not illustrated as such but include a number and then the representation of the suit .. eg V (5) Pentacles have the Roman Number V then will show 5 Pentacles on the cards with no other imagery... no people, animals or other symbols ... In The Major Arcana the imagery just basically shows the person illustrated with very little colour or other symbols ...The Cards I show to show similarities and differences, do not worry too much about the traditional meanings of these cards ... learn the RWS for Now ....

Thoth- another completely different system and include much more esoteric symbology within each card .. the numbers are different with Strength and Justice ( Force and Adjustment) are swapped around which can be confusing if learning Tarot ... This is a more advanced deck for Readers who can commit a lot of time including Kabbalah and astrology, planet influences to their readings ... I may include a few of these cards to show you the differences ... and the similarities... without going into too much detail, as yet ... Do not yet expand your reading to include these extra notes.. stick to the RWS for NOW.....

Rider Waite Smith Tarot

The Fool 0

This student, novice, youth, adventurer, dreamer, free Spirit, full of laughter and carefree about life.

He steps out of the Void with nothing more than the clothes he is wearing,, a little white dog yaps at his heels..

Why does the dog yap at his heels , what do you think he is trying to tell him?

The Sun is shining high in the sky...

He holds a rose in his hand, What colour is that rose? What does it say to you?

What else can you see in the image? What stands out that is of value to His journey?

Take a moment, take a breath and look at this card, noticing your own inner sensations...

Imagine you are talking to the Fool, what would he speak like? What would he say? What would you say to him?

How does he make you feel about this journey you are taking right now?

Do you relate to him at this time?

For me even though he is carefree and a a wild spirit there is a journey that is laid ahead of him...

he has to be aware of what lies ahead on some level, he may just fall of that cliff and into the abyss, but does he have faith that all will be ok?

For me as he steps out of the void and into the light he has freedom to be who ever he wishes, he can choose in which direction he will travel... the path ahead is a blank slate... He reminds us to have some focus but also to have balance. a purity of love resides within him.

The Dog shows there is loyalty but also a warning.. he has a companion that watches out for him ..

The mountain speaks of challenges, risks that must be taken to move forward....

The yellow to me is about working with the Solar Plexus- how do we digest our experiences in life?

Blue - the throat speaks about how do we express who we are?

The White snow- I feel speaks of being frozen,, but then we see the sun and it reminds us it has been thawing to release the self from the darkness of winter to be able to move forward..into .. spring ....
